OUR GEMSTONE JOURNEY

MINE → SOURCE → INSPECT → PLAN → PREFORM → CUT → POLISH → CERTIFY → VALUE → EXPORT → MARKET

We source natural rough gemstones directly from responsible mining channels and established gemstone markets in Sri Lanka, with a focus on authenticity, provenance and ethical sourcing.

1. Responsible Rough Sourcing

We source natural rough gemstones directly from responsible mining channels and established gemstone markets in Sri Lanka, with a focus on authenticity, provenance and ethical sourcing.

2. Professional Gemstone Inspection

Every rough gemstone is carefully examined by experienced professionals using appropriate gemological instruments to assess its natural characteristics, potential, inclusions, colour and cutting possibilities.

3. Size & Cutting Planning

The rough is evaluated and planned according to its natural shape and internal characteristics. Where required, calibrated dimensions and proportions are considered to maximise the potential finished gemstone.

4. Preforming

The rough is carefully shaped and prepared for faceting, removing unnecessary material while preserving the best possible colour, weight and proportions.

5. Faceting & Polishing

Our skilled cutters transform the prepared stone through precision faceting and polishing, designed to reveal its natural colour, brilliance and optical performance.

6. Independent Certification

Where appropriate, the finished gemstone is submitted to a recognised gemological laboratory for independent testing and certification, documenting important characteristics such as natural origin and treatment status.

7. Professional Valuation

The completed gemstone can then undergo professional valuation and market assessment, considering its quality, characteristics, certification and market position.

8. Export from Sri Lanka

Gemstones destined for international markets are prepared and exported through the appropriate Sri Lankan gem and jewellery export procedures, including the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) framework.

9. UK & Worldwide Market

The finished CeylonBlue gemstone travels from Sri Lanka to customers, collectors,  jewellery designers and partners in the UK and worldwide.
