Princess Kate, the Princess of Wales, has made a symbolic gesture that reflects “hope for new beginnings” by replacing Princess Diana’s iconic ring with a new sapphire and diamond ring, according to a style expert who spoke exclusively to GB News.
In a heartfelt video released earlier this week, Princess Kate confirmed the completion of her chemotherapy treatment, a significant milestone following her battle with cancer. Royal fans were quick to observe that the engagement ring, originally belonging to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, was missing from Kate’s hand.

Instead, she was seen wearing a new ring, which many have speculated could be a thoughtful gift from Prince William. Kate was also spotted wearing this ring in a congratulatory video for Team GB following the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Kormind explained, “Kate’s eternity ring has appeared again, taking the place of her engagement ring. The new ring is a wide band, set with alternating sapphires and diamonds, with an estimated total weight of three to four carats. A similar design at 77 Diamonds starts from around £4,000.”
Prince William originally proposed to Kate in 2010 with his late mother’s engagement ring, a blue sapphire piece that became iconic through Princess Diana. According to Kormind, Kate’s new ring subtly “evokes” memories of Diana’s beloved jewel.
“The new ring brings to mind Kate’s sapphire engagement ring, which Diana herself interestingly chose from a catalogue,” Kormind noted.
He went on to explain, “Kate’s new ring could symbolize hope for new beginnings, while also carrying an emotional connection to the past. Eternity rings, after all, represent unending love. This sentiment fits with the tone of Kate’s recent emotional video, where she was seen spending time with her loved ones.”

Princess Kate first revealed her cancer diagnosis in March and began a course of preventative chemotherapy. As Kormind suggests, the new ring may signify Kate’s desire to move forward with Prince William and their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—after enduring a challenging year.
